May Christ’s Peace Be with You!
We’re Rev. Dr. Lydia Istomina and Rev. Scott Kiddle, and we are honored to be part of the Western Columbia River Cooperative, a new ministry model bringing together five United Methodist churches in Southwest Washington and Northwest Oregon. You’ll find us preaching, teaching, and serving across these communities—each with its own story and spirit—and Kalama UMC holds a special place in our hearts already.
I (Lydia) was born and raised in the former Soviet Union and was the first woman pastor in Russia. After serving through seasons of immense change, I moved to the United States and have now been a pastor here for almost 30 years. Scott, my husband and ministry partner, brings a unique blend of spiritual and technical gifts. He has a background in IT and sound engineering, and is passionate about music, preaching, and meaningful conversations.
Though this is our first encounter with Kalama UMC, we’ve already felt your warmth and hospitality. From a beautiful sanctuary to the meaningful ministries you’ve nurtured, this congregation embodies what it means to be the heart of the community: welcoming, inclusive, and ready to serve. We believe in a grace-centered gospel—no guilt trips, no pretense—just open arms and honest faith.
Together, we look forward to walking alongside you, listening to your stories, and discovering how God is calling us to grow and serve in this place. You’ll often see us at community gatherings, luncheons, and special services, and we welcome every opportunity to connect.
Thank you for letting us be part of this chapter of your church’s journey.
With hope and gratitude,
